Rick Harmon of Elyria, OH races the #6 in the Grand National Class
at Lorain Speedway. He and Rick Pruchnicki in the #22 car were
tied dead even in points at the beginning of the feature. He
finished the 2004 points race in second place after an engine problem
immediately following the green flag for the first lap. Unfortunately
Rick was not allowed to get into a replacement car, despite many offers
from other drivers such as Johnny Newman and Garry Wyckoff. Pruchnicki took
advantage of this unfortunate incident and ended up winning the 2004 Grand
National Track Championship.
Harmon has been racing this class for two years, and used to race
at Cloverleaf in the 80's where he finished Top 5 in points. He also
races at Mansfield and Columbus. His sponsors include Hungry
Howie's Pizza, Zales Jewelers, Twin Motor Cars, Boomers, Schillens Livestock,
and Tropical Heat Tanning.
Rick considers Sterlin Marlin his
favorite driver / role model, and keeps coming back to Lorain Speedway each
week for the points race, the other drivers, and their families. He
says his proudest moments so far was going 13 weeks in a row as fastest qualifier,
and also watching Rich Dewitt, a big part of the Harmon Racing Team, bring
his #6 beauty to the front of the pack to win the Grand National feature
at Cavalcade 2004. He plans on coming back for the 2005 Season, perhaps,
though, in a different class.
He wishes to thank his sponsors, his
family, and his friends for all their help and support throughout the triumphs
and struggles during the 2004 Season.
