lining up to qualify

He finished the 2005 season with 515 points, putting him at 19th place overall in the Emod division.  He had moderate success in 2006 when Lorain closed, then went to Sandusky to run, where he had the stands cheering him on as he raced some of the most exciting racing he's participated in so far.

2004 Spectator Stock Division #179

Steve Jones drove the #179 Spectator Stock at Lorain Speedway up till 2005, where he hopped into an emod that he had been construction for awhile in his spare time..  He raced in the Spectator Division for 4 years, and he got his start in the sport by Drag Racing at Norwalk Raceway Park.  His sister and Ron Jones raced at Lorain in 2003 as well.  His main sponsor is the family-owned Jones Auto Body that also sponsors many other cars at the Lorain Speedway.   His other sponsors include Buds or Blooms, Reed's Salvage, and Gaydash Supply.

He finished the 2004 Season in the Spectator Division with:

* 2485 total points
* 4 feature wins

His favorite drivers include Dale Jr. and Jimmie Johnson.  Steve says his favorite racing moment was "beating Tim Gregory at Cavalcade on the last lap", and sets his goal at winning a Track Championship.  He has had several feature wins at Lorain Speedway, along with success at other tracks like Sandusky where he finished 2nd at their Cavalcade in 2003, then 3rd at their Cavalcade this year.  He also took 3rd at Mansfield's Cavalcade in 2003 as well.

Steve loves racing at Lorain Speedway because of all his fellow drivers and his ultimate love of racing.  He is looking forward to returning for the 2007 season in the modified class.  He wishes to thank his mom and dad, the McCall family, Doug Rowlins, Bill Weinbroer, and Reed's Salvage for all the support throughout the years. We also want to congratulate him for marrying the love of his life, Dawn Jones, and they will bring on the 2007 racing season with a new baby!! CONGRATS!!
