Jack Saylor of South Amherst,
OH drove the #176 Charger at Lorain Speedway in 2004. He has also
raced at Sandusky Speedway as well in their 2004 Cavalcade and someday
hopes to run on a figure 8 track. He ran the #4 car, sponsored by The Pub,
for 2006 as a tribute to the late track champion,
D.D. Hall.
2004 was his first season driving this class here at the Speedway.
In 2003, you may have seen him at the parking lot drags where he
raced his 3 1/2 ton '83 Cadillac Hearse, where he unfortunately picked
up his very bad habit of driving without using the brakes, which would
eventually come back to haunt him many times during this season's first
few races!!
Jack says Curtis Turner is his all time favorite
racer and if you happen to know who that is, talk to him about it one
night at the track !! He also admires former track champion and hearty competitor
of many Ohio tracks, D.D. Hall. He has themed his 2005 Beretta Gt after
D.D. Hall Jack got involved in racing after a life-long enthusiasm for
cars and speed.
Jack's favorite racing memory occured on Memorial
Day of 2004 where he won his first heat race. He also hit the wall that
day...AND KEPT GOING to finish third in the feature !!! He won
a heat race in 2005 at Sandusky, as well as the Fast 14 Feature here at Lorain.
His goal is to win the track championship in 2009 and
to have as much fun as he possibly can. He says he loves coming to
the Lorain Speedway each and every week for the pure adrenalin rush
it gives him just by sliding into his car.
For the 2004-2005 racing season, Jack thanked his Mom, Tori and
Ashlee, Herman Carver, Greg Stark from G & S Landworks and Spilltek
Environmental, and Duane Workman for lettering his car in such a way
that he
, and others, consider it a work of art.
