...2004 Season Car...

...My Jack Hood...

I am Heather Barnes, aka the girl with the purple hair and I drive the No. 77 Spectator Stock. I drove my first race Summer 2004 in the female-only Powder Puff race and have been hooked ever since. My first memory as a driver was getting the car over 70 miles per hour during my first time out on the track and pulling out a decent 20.9 sec. lap time.  I am also the designer of this website, Lorain Speedway Racing, and owner of the Yahoo group LORAINSPEEDWAY a group where drivers and fans can chat, trade and sell things, and keep in touch during the off-season.

My favorite drivers are Matt Kenseth and Elliott Sadler. I themed my car after Jack Skellington, from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. I am extremely proud that I basically stripped the majority of the car myself and hand-painted all the graphics on the car as well.

My first race was August 7th, 2004 where I finished dead last in both the heat and the feature, but realized soon after that the car was in drive instead of 2nd, and also had a severe vacuum leak. The following week I premiered my new paint job on my birthday, and finished the heat and feature races without being last! My proudest moment so far occured on September 11th where I led the race for over 8 laps before getting passed by the # 9 of James "Chewie" Stanley...then me and the #97 of Tom Boone raced side by side for over four laps, making it the most fun and exciting race I have had so far.

On Memorial Day 2006, I finally won my first heat race, shortly before the track closed.  Then I went to Barberton Speedway, a 1/4 mile oval.
