"I have had a small business
of my own doing portable welding for forty years. Around the racetrack
they call me "John the Welder". My first speedway was Cloverleaf Speedway
followed by Painsville Speedway, and have been at Lorain Speedway for the
last 36 years.
The objective
of the track welder is to repair the race cars so the driver can finish the
night. I also do some of the maintenence at the track as well. If
a racer needs a part or supply during the night, he can come to my truck and
I will usually have what is needed.
The Grey Goose
Everyone knows my truck.
It's
been called the "gray goose".
It is one of a kind. It's been around the tracks for at least 30 years.
The race track is my hobby,
but I also enjoy the camaraderie of the racers and being able to help them
out when needed."
