Ryan Smith of Elyria, OH, aka
Wreckin' Ryan Smith drives the #33/50 in the Chargers Division at Lorain
Speedway and is a member of the Smack Racing Team. Ryan has been racing
in this class for 7 years and participated in racing go karts as well. He
changed his number from #50 to #33 for 2006. One of his racing role models
is Nascar Driver Dale Earnhart Jr. Ryan got interested in racing in
this division just from being a fan. He said he watched it one day
and it sparked his interest enough to go buy a car and get involved.
He says his greatest racing moment hands down was when he won his first
feature race. His favorite moment was in June of 2006 when Lorain
officially closed its doors to racing, and all the spectator drivers got
together for one huge picture.
He also traveled to Sandusky Speedway where he won Cavalcade in 2005,
and a feature in 2006. He has also raced at Midvale and at Lake Erie
Speedway in Pennsylvania, although he likes his home stomping grounds at
Lorain Speedway because of the level of competition he competes in weekly,
all of his racing friends, the turns, and, of course, the current price of
gasoline keeps him close as well.
Ryan wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to Steve Jones and Tate
Gerken for all their help and support. Also, his mother, his sponsors,
and his fans.
