THIS IS A CLAIMING DIVISION
ELIGIBILITY
1. 1980 through 2000 American
and Foreign made passenger cars that are front wheel drive automobiles.
NO convertibles or two seat coupes. Factory VIN number must be in its
original position (left side of upper dashboard by the windshield), and show
no signs of tampering. NO STEALTHS OR MITSUBISHI 3000GTs ALLOWED!!!!
BODY
1. The body and frame must be of
the same make/model/year of vehicle being used, and must remain
factory stock including wheel wells. Doors cannot be gutted; must retain
factory full metal panels. Cars must have full floors, trunk and rear
packing shelf firewall. Firewall must have ALL holes covered with metal
entering the trunk area. All doors must be welded. Frame height 6” minimum.
NO TOLERANCE!
2. The front/rear firewall and floor
pans must be original and in factory stock location. NO MODIFICATIONS.
Any hole openings must be covered with metal. Must retain full dashboards,
but unused instruments may be removed. All upholstery fabric must be
removed, including back seat. If original front seat remains original
tilt mechanism must be welded to prevent movement. All interior supports
must remain in factory stock location. Original seat belts must be removed
and replaced with minimum aftermarket racing 3 point harness and mounted
securely per manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Racing seats are allowed and
are highly recommended.
4. Front/ rear deck lids cannot
be altered in anyway, must have full metal panels. NO vents, scoops
or spoilers. Hood pins or seat belt fashion (see tech inspector) must
be installed on both deck lids. Deck lids must retain factory stock
hinges for year/make/model of car being used.
5. Headlights, taillights and parking
lights must be removed and holes filled in.
6. All exterior chrome trim, with
the exception of window moldings must be removed.
7. Windshield can be glass or lexan.
All other glass must be removed. Must have car number and C on UPPER
PASS CORNER.
CHASSIS
1. Roll bars may be installed at
driver’s discretion. If installed it must meet these standards:
welded to frame or floor pan with extra support, minimum wall thickness .095”
and 1 ½” in diameter and all corners gusted. Roll cage may be
either two or four post type only, with No tubing outside of driver’s compartment.
2. All suspension components must
remain factory stock manufactured, in factory stock location for make/model/year
of car being used. No alterations of A-frames, sway bars, ball joints,
etc. No aftermarket racing springs or shocks, 1 shock or strut per wheel.
No lowering or lifting blocks, No long shackles, load bolts or spring adjusters,
No racing type proportioning valves, and No coilovers or air shocks.
All four tires must retain factory caster/camber settings. Brakes shall
be OEM as equipped; operating all 4 corners. Cars must pass a brake
test at anytime. CAMBERING OF RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WILL NOT BE PERMITTED!
3. Engines must be the same as was
available for year/make/model of car being used, and must be in factory stock
location with original stock engine mounts. NO MODIFICATIONS OR RACING
COMPONTENTS WHATSOEVER! Four or six cylinder engines only. Maximum
engine size as follow: GM 3.1L, Ford 3.0L, and Chrysler 3.0L. No turbo
charge will be permitted.
4. Carburetor/fuel injection must
remain factory stock for year/make/model of Car being used. NO MODIFICATIONS!
Only pump gas or racing fuel.
5. Exhaust must be factory stock
configuration from manifold for
year/make/model
of car being used, and tailpipes must exit behind driver. Catalytic
converter and muffler may be removed. NO MODIFICATIONS! NO RACING HEADERS!
6. Radiators must be in good condition
and have stock drip bottle attached to radiator at all times for overflow
protection.
7. Factory automatic transmission
for make/model/year of car being used with converter. NO ALTERCATIONS!
Must have at least 3 working forward gears and 1 reverse, and use factory
stock gear selector, NO SHIFTER RODS. Manual transmissions permitted.
8. Fuel tanks must have 2 additional
safety straps wrapped from side to side in the opposite direction of stock
straps. Fuel tank must remain in stock location. Fuel cells are
permitted, but must be mounted to trunk floor with 2 safety straps to hold
it firmly in place.
TIRES
1. Max 65 or 75 series tire must
be used. NO 55’s. The tire must be a radial street tires and must
be used on all four corners. Any brand tire may be used but MUST bear
DOT number. All tires must have tread on them. NO CHEMICAL SOAKING
OF TIRE WILL BE PERMITTED. No shaving tires, racing tires or directional
tires of any kind. Factory stock wheels only. Wheels and tires
must be all 14” or 15”, No MIXING, NO EXCEPTION! Wheel center may not be
moved or spaced out. Recommend right front tires have a double center.
If the car you choose to build came with different tires and wheels, then
you must change them to meet the above requirements, NO EXCEPTIONS!
NOTICE
1. The Charger division
is run as a claiming division . In order to claim
an Opponent's car, the car must finish in the top (3) of the feature
event. Only Drivers who place in the top (10) can make a claim for
the car. Claims must be made to the Tech Dept. within (15) minutes
after the feature is completed. The Claiming price of ($800.00) must
be paid in CASH and will be paid to the Tech Dept. The Driver
claiming a car must be running and have completed all the Feature
event laps. Only (1) claim per particpant may be used each racing
season. THE CAR/ DRIVER/ OWNER WHO DENIES A CLAIM WILL
BE DISQUALIFIED FROM ANY FURTHER EVENTS AND LOSS
OF
POINTS FOR ENTIRE NIGHT. Only Charger Division competitors
and / or Event Director can claim cars. Event Director may deny a
claim if it is not beneficial and conducive To the sport of auto racing There
will be no claims the first (2) weeks (RAINOUTS NOT INCULDED) DRIVING
SEAT,FUEL CELLS, SEAT BELTS ARE NOT INCULDED IN CLAIM
CLAIMING PRICE ($800.00)
SAFETY
1. Racing style 3 point (minimum)
harness and approved safety helmet with a 1998 or later snell
rating mandatory. A fully charged fire extinguisher mounted within drivers
reach. All drivers must wear a long sleeve shirt. A flame retardant
driving suit is highly recommended for your protection. All cars must
have a driver’s side Nascar style window net with a seat belt latch mechanism
on the top front corner, and must fall down along side driver’s door when
released.
The above rules are set to provide for the orderly conduct of all racing programs
at Lorain County Speedway. They are intended as a guideline and are
in no way a guarantee against injury or death to its participants. Anything
not covered should be checked with officials before proceeding. Rules
may be changed at any time for the good of the sport of racing. Any
interpretation or deviation of the rules will be left to the decision of
the officials whose decision is FINAL.
